Who we are

Welcome to Bosco’s Buddies, a nonprofit dedicated to championing the well-being of retired police canines and military working dogs—especially Belgian Malinois. Our story begins with retired Rohnert Park Police Officer Joel Walter and his partner, Bosco, who served as the very first K-9 Unit in Rohnert Park. Bosco, a courageous Belgian Malinois, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, leading to the amputation of his right leg and shoulder. Despite these challenges, Bosco’s unbreakable spirit continues to inspire us every day.

Through our mission, we provide vital resources, specialized care, and advanced training opportunities tailored to the unique needs of retired police dogs and military canines. Our programs include healthcare support, rehabilitation services, and community outreach, ensuring these brave K-9 heroes receive the respect and quality of life they have earned. By supporting Bosco’s Buddies, you help us give back to the retired canine community—one dedicated dog at a time.
